RUTLI Become a Founding Node

Questions, answered plainly.

What is Rutli?

Rutli is a participant-owned AI network built around computers people and organisations already own. A machine can run useful AI locally, optionally contribute spare capacity, and eventually reach into network capacity when it needs more.

Is Rutli just a GPU rental marketplace?

No. Shared compute is one part of Rutli. The larger idea is a local-first AI platform whose useful applications create independently owned nodes that can cooperate when useful.

Is this mining?

No. Rutli is not designed around proof-of-work mining or asking your computer to burn power for a speculative token. The network is designed to execute useful AI workloads using capacity an owner explicitly makes available.

Can I still game normally?

Yes, that is the point. Your local workload has priority. Rutli is being designed around contribution limits and local-priority rules.

Who owns my computer after I join?

You do. Joining Rutli does not transfer ownership of your hardware.

Does Rutli get my private data?

Joining the compute network does not mean your private application environment is distributed. Rutli separates local, private workloads from authorised network workloads.

Do node owners get paid?

The intended public compute-market principle is that when a customer pays for compute performed by a participant's node, the node owner receives 100% of that compute price. Rutli's target compute marketplace take rate is 0%. What a node actually receives can never be guaranteed: it depends on demand, hardware, availability, accepted workloads and real operating costs.

How much can my GPU earn?

Actual earnings depend on your hardware, available workloads, contribution hours, electricity costs and other real-world costs. Rutli will not publish a guaranteed monthly earnings number. The calculator on this site makes every one of those an assumption you set yourself, and says so.

Can my better GPU pay for itself?

Maybe. Maybe not. Rutli will never promise that. The stronger claim is simpler: a better GPU can become useful in more hours of the day. That can change the economics of ownership without guaranteeing a payback period.

How does Rutli make money if the compute fee is 0%?

Rutli is being designed to monetise products and services around the network economy rather than requiring a percentage cut from every participant's compute. The exact public settlement and financial architecture is still being designed and will be published when it is legally and operationally ready.

Can I use Rutli without sharing my GPU?

That is the intended model. Local applications remain useful even if network contribution is disabled. Contribution is voluntary.

Can I buy compute without running a node?

Yes, that is part of the planned network model. Compute buyers and developers should be able to consume network capacity without owning a contributing machine. Public compute access is not yet live.

Is the public Rutli network live?

Rutli is in founding development, not public network scale. The status page carries the exact current capability labels.

What hardware will be supported?

The founding work intentionally includes heterogeneous machines: Windows, Linux and macOS, NVIDIA and Apple silicon first. Public hardware and operating-system eligibility will be published as the node runtime stabilises.

Is this like the apps that pay you in gift cards for your GPU?

No. Rutli pays in dollars, not points, and takes 0% of the compute price. The machine is useful with the network switched off. And the costs, electricity, heat and demand that is not guaranteed, are said on the Nodes page before the upside, not after.

Is Rutli a crypto project?

No. Rutli is an AI infrastructure and applications project. Settlement technology may eventually use whatever tools are appropriate, but token speculation is not the reason Rutli exists.

Is Rutli anti-cloud?

No. Centralised cloud infrastructure is useful and will remain important. Rutli exists because it should not have to be the only architecture available for advanced AI.

Is Rutli open source?

The project favours open interfaces and avoids unnecessary lock-in. The exact open-source boundary between node components and managed network services will be published once decided.

Why is it called Rutli?

Rutli is inspired by Rütli, the Swiss founding-place tradition associated with independent communities forming a federation while retaining local autonomy. Federation without surrender: independent machines can become stronger together without ceasing to belong to their owners.
